On Sunday Rev. Eliakim spoke to us about the theology of our salvation and the connections between faith and works. This is a two-part message and part 2 is coming this Sunday (20th Aug) so make sure you don't miss you.
We are having another cleaning day in church on Wednesday (16th Aug), so please do join us if you're able to make it. Thank you very much indeed to all those who came last week - you made a real difference to the church.
We hope you are all enjoying the summer holidays, though the weather hasn't been too good so far!
On Sunday our Gospel reading told of Jesus feeding five thousand people with five loaves of bread and two fish. It's such a familiar story that we sometimes forget what it shows: that God can turn a little into great abundance.
This was an appropriate story for our Sunday talk. Amanda, finance officer from Diocese of Birmingham, gave a talk introducing us to the "Parish Giving Scheme", a new and improved way of giving to our churches by direct debit. As we all know, it's an important of our worship of God to give back a share of what He has given us to the church, so it's good to have it made as simple as possible.
Our church council has decided to adopt this method, so more information will be coming soon. We know that with God's help our giving to the work of the church will be turned into abundance.
Don't forget: we are meeting this Wednesday (9th Aug) to clean and tidy our church building. Do come along any time between 10am and 4pm.
And, just in case you haven't got the date on your calendar, don't forget that our International Evening is 16th September!
May all church members and visitors to the website have a blessed week.
